Members of the Hung Tao Choy Mei Leadership Institute raised funds over a two week period in late September. Three colorful Lucky Lions (two adult, and one children's lion) accompanied by a mobile Chinese drum enlivened Friday and Saturday evenings along the busy U Street NW thoroughfare.
Through the good will of U Street patrons and visitors the institute was able to raise $700 for the Red Cross Fund for DC Hurricane Katrina Evacuees
Traditional Southern Chinese Lion Dance is one component of the Hung Tao Choy Mei Leadership Institute's program.
